Dancing – My Hobby, Passion and Stress buster

Dancing holds a special place in my life since I was a little girl. Dancing is an art which requires passion and I have always loved dancing because it fills my heart with joy. Everything about dance intrigues me and it has changed my life in numerous ways. Dance is a big part of who I am and it has always been my number one hobby since my childhood days. I can express myself through dance and I dance for several reasons; it makes me feel free, at times just to forget my problems and sometimes just to have fun and enjoy the moment.  For me, dance is the most beautiful form of art and when I dance, my energy triples. Nothing engages me physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially like dance. It is the best way to spend my free time. Compared to other leisure activities, dancing helps me achieve more satisfaction.  I never pursed dancing as a career, which I regret now

I like to be fit and healthy, but doing exercise is little boring. This is where dancing can be fun form of exercise. It not only gives me confidence, but also shapes my fitness. Nowadays, dance based exercises are in vogue and activities like Power Yoga, Zumba have elevated the mood of people. During my initial days in US, I had attended a Zumba class for a week and let me tell you it was so much fun because you enjoy, at the expense of burnt calories. I found dancing as my favorite exercise. It personally reduces my stress syndromes and makes me happy. It helps to lift my mood and gives me a high.

Party Happy Dancing Girls

Although dancing has taken many forms, be it ballet, Salsa, jazz, hip hop, my personal favorite has always been Bollywood Dance. These days people love watching dance reality shows like Nach Baliye, Dance India Dance and movies like ABCD that have brought a dancing craze among youngsters. The number of people taking part in dance classes worldwide is increasing with increased exposure of dance helping to stay active, socialize within community and develop creative skills. It also offers a genuine alternative for people who may not consider themselves as ‘sporty’.

Dance has no barriers of age, sex, religion or class. Anybody and Everybody can dance.  It’s a coincidence that I am currently a part of a dance group called ABCD (Anybody Can Dance). The team has grown to become a second family to me. We share the same interest (guess what?:) ) and get along really well. When I dance with my colleagues, I truly feel that I am part of a great team. The best part about being in a dance group, is that you will get to meet new people and share your experiences. Through dancing I have made some amazing friends. No matter how old I am, I will dance forever. So what are you waiting for? Turn on the music and dance your way out!
