Shri Prashant Kumar Mallick

Shri Prashant Kumar Mallick is born on 20 March 1982. He along with his brother Shri Nishant Kumar Mallick represent the illustrious Darbhanga Gharana. They were initiated in Dhrupad under their father Shri Prem Kumar Mallick, an eminent Guru. The Mallick Brothers did Sangeet Praveen (Masters of Music) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Shri Prashant Mallick has additionally studied MBA from ISB&M Pune, and Nishant did Masters of Music (M. Mus) from University of Allahabad. The Mallick Brothers carry the richness of the Gauharbani and Khandharbani style, along with subtle variations and improvisations with the use of intricate layakaris. An A Grade artist of Dhrupad music with All India Radio and Doordarshan, their programmes have been broadcasted on AIR and Doordarshan. They have performed in many prestigious festivals in India and abroad. The Mallick Brothers have received Surmani title from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai and recently been conferred the Bihar Kala Puraskar by the Government of Bihar. They have also received International recognition from the North American Dhrupad Association (NADA), USA. Shri Prashant Kumar Mallick and Shri Nishant Kumar Mallick are awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014 for their notable talent in the field of Hindustani vocal music.
